Pumpkin Tiramisu: A Delicious Fall Twist on an Italian Classic

Pumpkin Tiramisu is a delightful fall-inspired twist on the classic Italian dessert. It combines creamy layers of mascarpone and spiced pumpkin with coffee-soaked ladyfingers, delivering a rich and cozy treat that’s perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup canned pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 8 ounces mascarpone cheese, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 2 tablespoons dark rum or coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 2430 ladyfingers (Savoiardi biscuits)
  • Cocoa powder for dusting
  • Optional: white chocolate shavings or chopped nuts for garnish

Instructions

1.Prepare the Pumpkin Filling

In a medium bowl, mix the pumpkin puree, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth and well combined. Set this spiced pumpkin mixture aside for later.

2. Mix the Mascarpone Cream

In a large mixing bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese until it’s smooth and creamy. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone cheese, creating a fluffy, velvety mixture.

3. Combine Pumpkin and Mascarpone Mixtures

Now, fold the spiced pumpkin mixture into the mascarpone cream. Gently combine until the mixture is smooth and fluffy. The aroma at this point is simply irresistible!

4. Prepare the Coffee Mixture

In a shallow dish, mix the cooled coffee with the rum or coffee liqueur if you’re feeling a bit indulgent. This step gives the ladyfingers that classic tiramisu coffee kick.

5. Assemble the Tiramisu

Time to layer up! Briefly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture and arrange them in a 9×9-inch dish. Spread half of the pumpkin mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers. Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers, then spread the remaining mascarpone mixture on top. Smooth out the top for a clean finish.

6. Chill the Tiramisu

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or even better, overnight. This chilling time allows all the flavors to meld together perfectly.

7. Serve

Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and garnish with white chocolate shavings or chopped nuts if desired. Slice it up and serve this delightful Pumpkin Tiramisu chilled.

Notes

  • Make Ahead: This Pumpkin Tiramisu tastes even better the next day, so it’s an ideal dessert to prepare in advance.
  • Alcohol-Free Option: Skip the rum or coffee liqueur if you’re serving this to kids or prefer a non-alcoholic version.
  • Storage: Store in the fridge for up to 3 days. It’s unlikely there will be leftovers, though!
  • Ladyfingers: Be sure not to over-soak the ladyfingers in the coffee mixture, or they may become too soggy.
